The Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) has strengthened its international sports development initiatives through a high-level engagement with British Cycling, aimed at knowledge exchange and skill transfer.

The British delegation, led by Sport and Participation Director Amy Gardner, met with LSSC officials to explore collaboration in technical capacity building and promoting a deeper cycling culture across Lagos State.

LSSC Director-General Lekan Fatodu described the partnership as a deliberate step in the state’s broader sports development strategy. “Our commitment to knowledge exchange and skill transfer with British Cycling is intentional and practical. It is about strengthening technical capacity, deepening institutional competence, and adapting global best practices to deliver measurable value for athletes, coaches, administrators, and cyclists in Lagos,” he said.

Gardner praised the Commission’s openness and vision, noting the potential for long-term growth in cycling and sustainable development. She emphasized that partnerships like this support participation, talent development, and commercial opportunities, positioning Lagos as a leading force in African sports.

The engagement reflects Lagos State’s growing international outlook and the supportive policy environment provided by the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration, which continues to drive excellence across the sports value chain.
